Leanna Pittsenbarger struck out 15 as host Urbana improved to 10-0 in the CBC with a 4-1 win over Graham. Kacie Puriton and Michelle Hendricks both had two RBIs for the Hillclimbers (17-4).
• Marta Lockwood hit two of Shawnee’s four home runs, the most in one game in coach Larry Spahr’s four seasons, in a 13-0, five-inning victory over Tecumseh.
Sami Smiddy hit a grand slam and had five RBIs. Ashley Dalton also homered for the Braves (8-7, 5-4 CBC).
• Brianna Amburgey had an RBI single, and Chris Rollins’ RBI groundout added an insurance run in the sixth as host Springfield (6-10, 1-6 Greater Western Ohio Conference) beat Beavercreek 4-2.
• Mayelin Beekman threw a one-hitter, and Emmanuel Christian got four hits and three RBIs from Kristina Gosney to stay unbeaten at 6-0 with a 12-0 win over Miami Valley.
Baseball
Jordan Hitt scattered six hits in blanking West Liberty-Salem (9-7, 5-4 OHC) by a 6-0 count. Caleb Diamond and Josh Black each had three hits for the Trojans (13-2, 8-2 OHC).
• Alex Mossbarger went the distance on the mound, striking out eight, and Levi Holcomb added a two-run homer as Graham (8-8, 5-4 CBC) got back to the .500 mark with a 7-1 win over rival Urbana (6-9, 4-5).
• Ryan Malone, Ethan Ford, Zack Robbins and Levi Hambrick all had two RBIs for Northeastern (4-11, 4-6 OHC) in a 13-3, five-inning victory over Mechanicsburg.
• Cody Gingerich’s two-out RBI single in the third drove in the only run as host Tippecanoe edged Kenton Ridge 1-0. Luke Mamer struck out 12. Ryan Lyon’s one-out double in the fourth was the only hit for the Cougars (11-3, 6-2 CBC). The Red Devils improved to 10-4 and 5-3 in the CBC.
• Host Springfield took advantage of 16 walks from Beavercreek pitching to edge the Beavers 7-6. Jalen Wood hit a three-run home run, and Tre Casey added two RBIs for the Wildcats (12-3, 5-2 GWOC).
Track and field
Mechanicsburg senior Alex Peoples won four events at the Champaign County Meet at Graham High School. Peoples was first in the 100 meters (11.8 seconds), the 200 (23.61), the 400 (52.32) and the long jump (18 feet, 11 ¾ inches). West Liberty-Salem won the boys meet with 123. Urbana won the girls meet with 146 points.
