Boys hoops roundup: Climbers win 17th straight game

RIVERSIDE — Urbana High School junior Tristan Singer had 19 points as the Hillclimbers won their 17th straight game, beating Stebbins 52-48 in Central Buckeye Conference boys basketball crossover division action on Saturday.

The Hillclimbers trailed by one with two minutes to go, but a bucket by senior Zach Stillings, who had 18 points and nine rebounds, and strong free-throw shooting lifted Urbana to the win.

Urbana (19-1) finished the regular season with its best record since 1982. The Hillclimbers haven’t lost since falling to Tecumseh 51-40 on Dec. 13.

Shawnee 79, Northwestern 40: Jaelin Wiliams had 20 points and 11 rebounds and Derek Tincher also had 20 points for the Braves (14-6).

Jaden Greenwood had 15 points, making five 3-pointers, David Sawyer had 13 points and Nick Hines added 10 assists for Shawnee.

Tevin Springs had 14 points and Cody Lough added 12 for Northwestern (4-16).

St. Charles Prep 49, Catholic Central 44: The Irish fell behind 16-7 after the first quarter and couldn’t catch up.

Brian Kelly had 15 points, while Calum Latham had 12 rebounds, eight points and seven assists for the Irish, who finished the regular season 14-6.

Col. DeSales 46, Graham 31: The Falcons were held to just 10 second-half points, including three in the third quarter in the loss. Austin Morgan had 12 points for the Falcons (12-8).

Bethel 53, Yellow Springs 43: Roland Newsome had a game-high 20 points and Robbie Jones added 12 for the Bulldogs (6-14).

West Jefferson 65, Triad 51: Doug Lowe II had 16 points for the Cardinals (4-16).
