Top prospect A.J. Green to visit Bengals, Browns

The Cincinnati Bengals have played host to some notable prospects in recent weeks in preparation for this month’s NFL draft. The team is expected to intensify its search for draft hopefuls as draft day draws near.

In town this week will be top receiving prospect A.J. Green out of the University of Georgia.

According to Green, he will visit the Bengals today before traveling to Cleveland for a meeting with the Browns on Wednesday.

The Bengals currently hold the No. 4 selection, and the receiver’s big-play ability would add another dimension to the Bengals’ offense. If the Bengals pass on Green, the Browns might be willing at No. 6 overall.

“My ability to catch the ball and separate will give the team what they need,” Green said. “I think it would be a great venture to line up opposite a high-caliber receiver like Chad (Ochocinco) and learn. I can do a lot of things that would open things up for Chad. He can teach me things to get me where he is now.”

If not Ochocinco, then there is someone else to learn from.

Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl receiver Larry Fitzgerald has been mentoring the young receiver throughout this draft process. Fitzgerald is someone that Green is striving to pattern himself after upon entering the league.

“I talk to Larry (Fitzgerald) more often than not,” Green said. “The way he goes about his business of being a professional is where I’m trying to get. We sat down for a long chat a day before my pro day. It was great. He has helped me immensely with his teaching on becoming a pro. I know I have to continue to work hard so whenever the lockout ends I’m ready.”

Should the Bengals make Green their selection they would be adding a play-making receiver who could come in and play right away. With all the uncertainties that surround the team’s offense, this selection would be a solid start to a new foundation.

During his junior season at Georgia, Green caught 57 passes for 848 yards and nine touchdowns. He finished with 166 receptions, 2,619 yards and 23 TDs in his three seasons with the Bulldogs.

The receiver has made it clear what he would bring to the club in terms of dedication.

“My work ethic and the way I am going to go about my business,” Green said. “I’m going to try my hardest to be one of the best and won’t settle for anything less. Practice is where it all starts. I go into every practice like it’s a game and give 100 percent in everything I do. The game is going to come easy to you if you practice hard. They won’t find anyone more determined to get the job done than me.”
