Bengals take their second CB of the fifth round with Phillips

The Cincinnati Bengals drafted their second cornerback in a 20-pick span of the fifth round with the selection of Western Michigan’s Darius Phillips.

The 5-foot-9, 193-pound Phillips set an FBS record with 12 career return touchdowns (five kickoff, five interception, one punt, one fumble). He also scored a pair of touchdowns on offense.

His selection would seem to close the door on a possible return of former Bengals cornerback Adam Jones.

As a corner, Phillips was a three-year starter with 12 interceptions, 47 passes defended and two sacks.

Prior to taking Phillips with the 170th overall pick, the Bengals drafted Illinois State cornerback Davontae Harris with the 151st pick.
