Man injured in rollover crash on I-70

Part of Interstate 70 westbound in Clark County was closed after a crash involving a car and tractor-trailer rig that left one man injured Thursday.

David Rassmussen, 55, of Edwardsville, Ill., was traveling on I-70 near Ohio 72 when the accident occurred.

Witnesses told officials that Rassmussen was weaving in and out of traffic at a high rate of speed when he came upon two semis, one in each lane. As he attempted to pass them, he clipped one semi, causing the Subaru Baja to spin. He then spun into the other semi, causing the vehicle to roll over approximately five times. The vehicle landed in the median.

Only one semi remained at the scene.

Rassmussen suffered a head injury but was alert and talking at the scene, according to officials.

I-70 westbound was closed for less than half an hour as CareFlight prepared to transport Rassmussen to Miami Valley Hospital in Dayton.

No other injuries were reported.

Rassmussen was in fair condition, the hospital reported.

According to officials, charges are pending.
