Rain rest of the week, sun for Mother’s Day

Showers have developed across our area and some have experienced heavy downpours and lightning strikes.

Chief Meteorologist Jamie Simpson said this activity could continue through sunset, then clearing will begin. Areas that saw rain may see fog develop.

Thursday will start with sun then clouds will return in the afternoon. Temperatures will climb from the 50’s to the 70’s with showers and thunderstorms possible late afternoon and evening. The strongest storms will likely stay to our northwest, but we may experience gusty winds.

Friday will bring more of the same but nothing severe, with highs near 70.

Your weekend will start with showers and cooler air, with highs in the mid 60’s on Saturday. We’ll feel even cooler temperatures on Sunday with highs in the upper 50’s, but we will see mostly sun for Mother’s Day.

Next week may start with some patchy frost in the area.
