Several of you sent in thoughts on the Common Core, and the attempt by several Republican state legislators to repeal it in Ohio. This came from Guy Geiger:
“As a past educator and current GED volunteer, I strongly support the concept of ‘common core.’ Once a student graduates from high school they enter a common core society.
“There is a common core accuplacer evaluation to enter Sinclair Community College and similar entry requirements for other colleges and universities. Those failing to pass the entry evaluation are required to take remedial classes. Many companies are requiring applicants to complete pre-interview testing. …
“I have followed several students graduating from the local high school where I worked, then volunteered, and several were ill-prepared to enter society and find jobs. … A common core education would ensure this for all graduates.”
