West Liberty kicks off Christmas in the Village

The West Liberty Business Association is kicking-off the holiday season this weekend with Christmas in the Village.

The Christmas in the Village parade will start at 6:30 p.m. Friday and travel from the Lions Club Park to the firehouse.

“For the last 40 some odd years, our beautiful little town has celebrated Christmas with an annual Christmas Parade,” President of the West Liberty Business Association Mitch Lingrell said.

The theme this year, to celebrate the new lighted snowflakes on village poles, is “Let it snow, let it snow!”

Springfield offices closed on Thanksgiving Day, some closed Friday

Following the parade, the community can greet Santa Claus and see the new tree lighting.

“This year marks a special time as we are honoring the late Willy Yoder with a moment of silence. Willy served our community as Santa Claus for 54 years and was the voice of our beloved Tiger’s sports team,” Lingrell said.

The West Liberty Business Association will also award cash prizes for first, second and third place parade float winners.

Lingrell said this year’s parade will be “one of the largest parades in the history of the event with over 30 entries in our float competition.”
