Visitation, funeral services set for Greenon High School teacher

Services have been set for a Greenon High School teacher who passed away earlier this week.

Shawn Brickles, who was with the district for 14 years, passed away Monday at his home. He was an Intervention Specialist and Social Studies teacher.

“He worked as a school teacher and loved sports. He was also a football coach and karate instructor,” according to Brickles’ obituary. “Shawn is survived by his parents, Greg and Linda Brickles; sister, Beth Mills.”

The visitation will take place Friday, Dec. 6 from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Jamestown Church of Christ located at 152 W. Washington St., Jamestown.

According to the district, a bus will be provided to help transport students to the visitation. It will leave the high school at 4:30 p.m. and return between 6:30 and 7 p.m. Students can sign up Friday in the high school office to take the bus to the service.

All atheltic activities will be canceled Friday and Saturday so students and staff can attend the services.

The funeral will be held Saturday, Dec. 7 starting at 10 a.m. at the Powers-Kell Funeral home located at 12 N. Limestone St., Jamestown. Friends may call one hour before the service or post on the Powers-Kell Funeral Home website to leave their condolenses.

The burial will follow the funeral at Silvercreek II Cemetery in Jamestown.

“Mr. Brickles has been a dedicated Intervention Specialist and Social Studies Teacher at Greenon High School for many years and has touched the lives of countless students through coaching and teaching during his 14 years at Greenon Schools,” according to the Greenon Local School District. “He will be deeply missed by many of our students, staff and community members.”
