The truck was headed north on Clyo when it left the right side of the road in the area of Quaker Way, continued into a ditch and hit the pole just after 4 p.m. The impact knocked the lines off their position on the pole, but did not bring the pole down, Davis said.
The DP&L crew said the pole will have to be replaced, but not today, Davis said. The crew’s priority was to restore service.
Police did pat down the truck driver for officer safety before putting him a police cruiser, Davis said.
He may be cited, Davis said, at the very least for failure to control.
At 6:30 p.m., the online DP&L outage map showed 638 in Montgomery County (626 in the affected area).
INITIAL REPORT
A tree trimming truck that hit a power pole in Centerville on Monday afternoon is causing a power outage affecting roughly 2,100 Dayton Power & Light customers when the accident was first reported.

The scene is on Clyo Road, in the area of Quaker Way, and the road was shut down in both directions just before 5 p.m. to have the truck moved, a Centerville police dispatcher said.
According to police dispatch, no one was injured in the accident reported sometime after 4 p.m.
May Ann Kabel, DP&L corporate communications director, said crews are on scene and they are estimating being able to restore service by 6 p.m.
At 5:15 p.m., according to DP&L's online outage map:
- 1,301 Montgomery (1,288 believed to be in the area of the accident)
- 51 Greene 2 Preble
- 1 each in Darke and Miami
