» TRENDING: Favorite Springfield food truck closing after 4 years
Thousands of boxes of the cookies were delivered to the Clark County Fairgrounds on Tuesday.
Scouts selling cookies — also known as “Cookie Pros” — will have a variety of flavors available this year, including the classic Thin Mints and Trefoils. A gluten-free option, Toffee-Tastics, will also be available, as well as the newer S’mores flavor. Boxes typically go for $4 or $5.
People all over the region have already started taking advantage of the short selling windows by putting in pre-orders for their boxes well in advance. Kimberly Cooley, scout leader for Troop No. 34111 in Clark County, said her group has already pre-sold 501 cases of the treats.
“That’s about 6,000 boxes,” she said.

The money the girls raise will be used to take the troop on a trip to Florida in June to swim with dolphins, Cooley said. Another trip is being planned for the girls who can’t attend.
The Girl Scouts put on the selling event every year in order to develop different skills among the scouts, including money management, people skills and business ethics. The girls are able to reach their goals and learn more with help from their parents, Cooley said.

If you’re in the market for a few boxes — or a few dozen — the Girl Scouts have launched a Cookie Locator on their website to help people find booths in their area. There’s also a mobile app available for both Android and iPhone devices. Cookies will be on sale through March 25.
