While Clark County was known for companies that provided people around the world with large pieces of farm machinery such as reapers, seeds, and mowers, typically local one-family farms in the 1850s-1880s used hand tools like these, which represent hours of labor-intensive work.

The advent of large mechanized machines to take on a lot of the work transformed early farming into vast businesses.
