Family will mix with fashion as the Woman’s Town Club of Springfield’s Mirabella Style Show turns the club’s historical home at 805 East High St. into a runway for a day.

Fairborn’s Mirabella Boutique will supply the latest styles for the event, 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15. Everyone is invited to attend for a donation of $30 that includes lunch and door prizes.

Fashions at the show will also be available for purchase from Mirabella and modeled by club member mothers and daughters.

Showing the latest in women’s wear at the club has been a tradition for many years according to member and publicity chair Dea Rucker.

“Women have always enjoyed the fashions and love coming to the house for it. With the entertainment and delicious lunch it’s a special treat,” she said.

Proceeds raised from bringing style into the clubhouse will keep it in style as well. All monies the club raises go toward upkeep and improvements to the venue, which was built in 1852.

The goal is to restore the home back to its original Queen Anne style. This includes scraping the old paint, adding new paint, replacing windows and wood structures where needed.

“It’s been a big project for us,” Rucker said. “We have enough to go forward on the outside.”

The upgrades will cost an estimated $45,000, which is a challenge since the club isn’t a non-profit and limits sources for funding. The club is always open to donations or other funding opportunities.

Rucker said if the funding is met it will be worth it based on the home’s history.

After serving as a residence for years, it became an all-women’s club for social and civic activities in 1922 by Clementine Berry Buchwalter and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Buchwalter would found the Ohio Federation of Women’s Clubs. Passersby on Main Street will see her statue on the property’s lawn.

“We feel a real obligation to maintain the house and hope people realize what an asset it is to the community,” she said.
