Springfield Then and Now: Aerial view of Credit Life building

The Credit Life building is seen under construction at the corner of East Main Street and South Limestone in a photo from around 1980. Downtown Springfield retains some of the same elements, but also has experienced plenty of changes, viewed this week.

Credit Life spent $7 million constructing the 154,000-square-foot-tower in 1980.

In September 2016, EF Hutton America purchased the building and the State Theater, 9-17 and 19 S. Fountain Ave. The former Credit Life Building was renamed EF Hutton Tower.
