Springfield restaurant offers free cones today to celebrate anniversary

Lee Ann’s Dairy Delight in Springfield is celebrating their 16th anniversary today by offering free cones to the community as a thank you.

“I am so proud and blessed to think without all of you this would not be possible,” Lee Ann Lopez, the owner, said in a Facebook post. She said they’ve gone “through some rocky times but here we are!”

Customers can pick up a free soft serve vanilla cone through their drive-thru, 11 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. today. No purchase is necessary.

Sunday will  be the store’s official anniversary.

“If it wasn’t for all my customers, my family and friends - I would have never been able to make it,” Lopez said.

In 2016, a fire almost forced Lopez to close the ice cream shop and restaurant for good, but the community raised thousands of dollars to help the business reopen.

Neighbors helped shovel rubble from the fire damage and others provided no-cost installation of new floors, electric and dry wall, Lopez explained.

“I just want to thank everyone,” Lopez said. “I have been so blessed.”

The ice cream shop and restaurant is located at 619 E. High Street. Lee Ann’s Dairy Delight is open 11 a.m to 7:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
