Springfield neighborhood association to hold meet the candidates night

Clark County residents will have a chance to meet candidates on Monday night who are on the ballot for the March primary election.

The Springfield Council of Neighborhood Associations (CONA) will host a primary meet the candidates night at 7 p.m. on Monday at Springfield’s City Hall, located at 76 E. High St.

The event is described by CONA as, “an opportunity to hear from candidates who will appear on the ballot in March.”

Each candidate on the ballot will be given a timed opportunity to speak at the forum — with Democratic candidates going first. After that, CONA will open the forum up to question from the audience.

Springfield City Commissioner Rob Rue will officiate questions for Republican candidates, while Springfield Mayor Warren Copeland will officiate for Democratic candidates.

March’s primary election has several highly contested races, including the race for Clark County Sheriff and Clark County Clerk of Courts.

Early voting for March’s primary election kicked off on Wednesday. Clark County residents who wish to cast early ballots can do so at the Clark County Board of Election’s office located at 3130 E. Main St. in Springfield.

The board’s hours are: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays from Feb. 19 to March 6; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 7; 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. March 9 to March 13; 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, March 14; 1 to 5 p.m. March 15 and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on March 16.

The primary election will be held on Tuesday, March 17.
