Moore was robbed following a drug deal at a nearby apartment complex, according to the newspaper. He was shot at several times while he attempted to drive away.
Bernard “Briston” Davis, 18, was arrested and charged with Moore’s death a day after the shooting.
Moore’s father, Dr. Robert L. Moore, is a former Deputy Superintendant of Springfield City Schools.
“He was murdered, he was robbed,” said Mary Moore, Robert’s mother. “My son, obviously, I think was a victim.”
She added that her son was not a drug addict and was well-liked at his job as a Government Operations Consultant at the Agency of Workforce Innovations in Florida.
Moore is a 1997 graduate of Catholic Central High School. He received his bachelors of science degree in economics at Florida State University in 2000, and earned an additional bachelors degree from DeVry University in 2007.
Visitation will be on Friday, June 25, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Covenant United Methodist Church, 529 W. State St. Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church followed by internment at Ferncliff Cemetery.
