“We wanted to find a way to better use our facility and make it more accessible to the public throughout the day,” Lambert said.
Adults can choose from aqua aerobics, morning lap swimming or resistance water walking. There are also three levels of swimming lessons available for children. Fees range from $7 per adult class to $42 for a six-lesson session for kids.
The fee is worth the comfort of working out in a peaceful environment, said Carol Ryan, a Springfield resident who attends the water walking class.
“This is perfect because you feel weightless on water and you’re not on hard pavement where it’s hurting your knees or back,” Ryan said. “It’s one of the best deals we have in Springfield.”
Because the programs are offered before the facility opens at noon, Sheryl Stolarski of Springfield said it’s a fun and relaxing option.
“It’s nice to have it when there’s not a big crowd with splashing and noise. This is so calming, and it’s just like being on vacation,” she said.
