Remember Woody’s lunch counter in Springfield?

Claude Carl  Woody  Woodward was born in Shelby County, Ohio in 1890. Around 1900, his family came to Dayton where he worked for a time on the railway. Around 1920 he came to Springfield with his wife Bessie and son Robert and opened Woody s, a lunch counter at 12   N. Fountain, shown here in January 1921. By 1930, he has moved back to Dayton where the family ran a restaurant for a number of years on West 5th Street.  CONTRIBUTED
