Thompson returned to the region two years ago to care for his parents, who live in Springfield.
Throughout his career, Thompson has worked as a stylist, image advisor, massage therapist, regional leader, and national operation spa manager in several cities like Chicago, Miami, New York City, and Los Angeles.
Services include cuts, coloring, hair treatments, massages, waxing, lash lifts, brow tints, and hair replacements.

Another service offered is the “Red Carpet Ready” featuring highlights/lowlights, cut/style/Olaplex, lash lift/tint, and brow wax/tint based on the client’s skin tones.
“I created all of these services that I wanted to do to be able to really make the person look their best, whatever they might need some help with bringing out a little bit, we are able to do that within one visit,” Thompson said.
College students, seniors, police, firefighters, clergy and military will receive 20 percent off all services.
His hair studio features the booking app that allows clients to book appointments and pay online to increase convenience.
“People that are on the go can get in and out with quality services ,” Thompson said.

Thompson is the only stylist at the hair studio, but he is looking for up to four stylist that can do “more than just hair.”
He said he wants his clients “to be able to feel good about themselves and be who they can be.”
UBU Hair Studio, located at 601 N. Fountain Ave. in Springfield, is open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday.
