Mostly sunny start leads to showers, storms

Today, we will start out with mostly sunny skies, but clouds and the chances of showers and storms are expected to rapidly rise through the morning, especially peaking in the early afternoon, according to the National Weather Service in Wilmington.

Rain chances will fall off again in the evening, especially after night falls, the NWS said.

During the day temperatures will be hot, but slightly lower than the past few days with a high near 90 degrees. Overnight temperatures will dip down to around 69 degrees.

For Saturday, the NWS predicts that we will see sunny skies with a high near 89 degrees and some wind, although there is still a slight chance of some rain in the evening. Saturday night will see temperatures fall to around 68 degrees under partly cloudy skies, with a slight chance of showers and storms in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday.

On Sunday, the NWS predicted that the chance of rain and thunderstorms will continue to steadily rise to a peak around 5 p.m., before steadily falling again into the overnight hours. Otherwise skies will be mostly sunny, with a high of around 88 degrees, falling to around 66 degrees overnight.
