Kramer declined to reveal specifics, but said educational safety officers and deputies from the sheriff’s office have been spending more time at the school to assist with the investigation.
“We are doing our best to determine who’s responsible,” Kramer said. “When you have a situation like this, you have to really evaluate what’s going on and make appropriate decisions to ensure student and staff safety. We’re communicating with our parents and keeping them informed as much as we can.”
In response to the recent threats, Kramer said schedules have been adjusted and the restrooms are being monitored more closely.
Detectives in the Clark County Sheriff’s Office could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
Kramer said the perpetrator will face suspension and the possibility of expulsion, as well as criminal charges, including inducing panic.
Last month, student backpacks were searched and extra deputies patrolled Northeastern High School after a threat of violence was found on a bathroom stall. That incident is still under investigation, Kramer said.
It is not clear if the incidents are related.
Students are off for Thanksgiving break beginning today and do not return to school until Monday. School officials were to re-evaluate procedures at the end of the day Tuesday, and at the very least, officers will stop by the school Monday, Kramer said.
The South Vienna campus has about 900 students in kindergarten through eighth grade. There are more than 3,600 students enrolled in the Northeastern school district.
