An online auction of medical equipment from the shuttered hospital began Thursday and will continue through Tuesday. Great American Group is the auction house for the sale.
“Good, used medical equipment is in demand everywhere,” said Mark Weitz, president of Great American Group’s Wholesale and Industrial Services. “When a hospital such as this closes, it results in a positive opportunity for other regional hospitals, clinics and specialized health care facilities to expand or modernize their operations at an economical cost.”
“We’re excited about the future of our health system in Springfield,” said Dave Lamb, spokesman for Community-Mercy Health Partners. “In this, we are mindful of the history and heritage of the two hospitals.”
Remaining goods and furniture will be auctioned from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. The auction is for employees of Mercy Health Partners. All employees are asked to wear their badges.
