‘Make new history’: COhatch food vendors in Springfield to be open by April 1

All six vendors in COhatch The Market in downtown Springfield are slated to open on April 1, according to the CEO and founder of the business.

COhatch announced it was investing about $2 million into renovating the downtown Springfield’s historic Myer’s Market building around August of 2018.

“We have put in 525 days of construction, but we are just getting started,” Matt Davis, CEO and co-founder of COhatch said Thursday.

COhatch offers co-working and private office spaces, conference rooms, event spaces and restaurant vendors — all in one building.

The market portion will feature six vendors: Cork + Board, Crust & Company, Fresh Abilities, Ironworks Waffle Cafe, North High Brewing and The Painted Pepper.

Davis said while some vendors will have “rolling” opening dates, meaning some will open before others, all vendors are expected to be open by April 1.

“The Springfield community has been so amazing and so supportive,” Davis said. “Springfield has really shown us such great energy. We are hoping to set the new standard in downtown Springfield and help lift everything.”

Davis said COhatch was drawn to Springfield and the former Myer’s Market because of the history around the building.

“This is all about making new history here,” Davis said. “We want to look at the history of this building and this city, but also look to the future at the new history that will be made here.”

COhatch’s co-working and office space opened on Monday.

The co-working space offers meeting rooms, event spaces and mail service depending on a person’s membership, according to Community Orchestrator Joseph Harrison.

A starter membership, which includes 10 hours per month with unlimited after hours and personal events hours, is $59 per month. A full-time membership, which included unlimited hours, six meeting room hours, mail service and personal event hours, is $199 per month.

Other membership options for part-time or day/week are also available, Harrison said.

“Co-working and our office is open while the market is still closed and the bar is still closed,” Harrison said. “If people want to come in and co-work, there is free coffee.”

Residents who are interested in checking out COhatch’s co-working spaces while The Market is still closed are welcome. Currently, COhatch’s hours are 8 a.m. until 5 p.m., Monday through Friday. Hours will be expanded once The Market opens.

COhatch also has locations in the Columbus area — “The Hardware Store” and “The Library” in Worthington, “The Newsstand” in Delaware and “The Hub” at Polaris Fashion Place.
