Kunay to lead Ridgewood School

SPRINGFIELD — Ridgewood School will be under new leadership for the new school year.

Retired Catholic Central Junior/Senior High School Principal Jeanne Kunay has returned to education as headmaster of Ridgewood School, the private K-8 school at 2420 St. Paris Pike.

Kunay began her duties July 1 and is working on scheduling, curriculum development and a teacher retreat that will allow her to become better acquainted with the school’s staff.

“I am truly honored to be offered this position at Ridgewood School,” said Kunay. “This is an academic institution that will serve as a model for other private schools across the country. As Ohio’s oldest independent private school, the heritage of Ridgewood is legendary among private educators. There is a wealth of history and academic success here that leads back to the early 1900s, and more recently, it is a fact that Ridgewood graduates go on to become valedictorians and salutatorians upon high school graduation regardless of where they choose to attend.”

Kunay’s experience as a teacher and administrator will help the school maintain stability and build on its strong academic curriculum, said board President Ash Ahmed.

“Her past experience as a principal will be extremely instrumental in re-developing and complementing the academic curriculum at Ridgewood School,” he said.

Ridgewood School begins the new school year Aug. 25.
