DAYTON — Local and state prices for a gallon of regular self-serve gasoline will rise by 25 to 30 cents per gallon sometime before Friday, Sept. 3.
That is the prediction being made by DaytonGasPrices.com.
"Most of the stations in the Dayton area will rise to $2.75 by this afternoon or this evening," said Patrick DeHaan, senior Petroleum Analyst for GasBuddy.com in Grand Rapids, Mich. GasBuddy.com operates the local gas price website.
On Thursday, Sept. 2, DaytonGasPrices.com reported that price has already been spotted in several cities within the counties of Montgomery, Greene and Miami, according to the website.
The gas price sites are also predicting gas price climbs for Michigan, Indiana, Minnesota, Kentucky, West Virginia and Illinois.
As of 11 a.m. Thursday, the lowest gas prices listed on the gas price website were $2.48 for at least three gas stations in Troy and $2.49 in various cities in Montgomery County.
DeHaan believes gas prices will increase because some gas station owners will want to take advantage of the motorists traveling this Labor Day weekend.
