Downtown renovation project finished

Springfield dental building open after $750K of investment.

A $750,000 renovation project in a key downtown area will be unveiled with an open house and ribbon-cutting ceremony today.

Dr. James E. Blank, DDS, moved from his former office on 2205 N. Limestone St. to the new building located on the corner of North Street and Fountain Avenue. The building opened in early June, but the ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held today at noon.

“We are definitely excited about developing a corner of downtown Springfield,” Blank said.

The building is along a stretch of Fountain that is undergoing a streetscape renovation.

An open house to other medical and dental professionals will be conducted following the ceremony, and another one will be held for patients at a later time, according to Jennifer Martinelli, office manager for Blank.

Martinelli said it is not known when the open house for the patients will be.

Blank also rented part of the former Lawyers Building to Dr. Jason Stoner, DDS.

The renovation process started in 2012, but Dr. Blank bought the building in 2010.

The ceremony Friday will include an ambassador from the Greater Springfield Chamber of Commerce, Springfield Community Development Director Shannon Meadows and Mayor Warren Copeland, who all will speaking at the event.

“Center City has helped Dr. Blank through the process, and we are so thrilled that he has made such a commitment downtown,” said Elaine Morris-Roberts, interim executive director of the Center City Association.
