District welcomes school officials

Dan Bennett starts work as new superintendent; 2 principals also hired.

ENON — Fresh faces in the Greenon Local Schools administration greeted students as they returned to school Wednesday.

Greenon has a new superintendent this year in Dan Bennett, who began work with the district officially Aug. 1 after the board hired him in July.

Bennett, 49, came to the district from Little Miami Local Schools in Warren County, where he served as superintendent since August 2003 and has also been a principal and assistant principal.

He began his career in education teaching high school math in Beavercreek and Bellbrook.

Also new to the administrative team this year are principals Rick Newsock and Darrin Knapke.

Newsock will be principal of Greenon High School. He comes to the district from Xenia Community City Schools, where he was an assistant principal, according to the Ohio Department of Education.

Knapke will be principal of Hustead Elementary and comes to the district from Fairborn schools, where he taught for six years, according to the district website.
