Clark State appoints Springfield native to business affairs team

Clark State Community College has appointed Doug Schantz to the associate vice president of business affairs, according to a release from the school.

Schantz, a lifelong Springfield resident and Wittenberg University alum, recently served as the director of business operations at Wittenberg.

“Mr. Schantz’s extensive higher education finance experience will be an excellent complement to an already strong Business Affairs team,” said Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president. “His student-centered approach set him apart from the other candidates.”

During his tenure of over 20 years at Wittenberg, Schantz gained leadership experience in several different areas.

“I am extremely excited to be joining the leadership team at Clark State and having a meaningful impact on the short and long-term goals of the institution,” said Schantz. “During my 23 years in higher education, I have been committed to promoting and establishing an infrastructure of business office services, programs, processes and policies that positively support student success in the higher education landscape - I look forward to bringing that depth of experience to Clark State.”

Schantz has also served the higher education business officer community in a leadership capacity at state and national levels, the release said.

“Clark State’s mission and guiding principles resonate strongly with my own personal beliefs and passions as it relates to college affordability and accessibility,” said Schantz. “As a Springfield native, the commitment that Clark State has for meeting the educational and work force development needs of the greater Springfield, Beavercreek, Bellefontaine and Xenia communities is inspiring to me and a wonderful testament to the good work occurring on their campuses.”

Schantz will begin his new position with Clark State on June 1.
