The Clark County Sheriff’s Office and Clark County’s prosecutor took to social media to warn residents about a potential coronavirus, COVID-19 scam.

According to a post on the sheriff’s office Facebook page, some local residents have taken to social media to post about “people from the government showing up at their houses and forcing their way into the house, home invasion style.”

“No such reports have been taken in Springfield and Clark County,” the post said. “Also, there is no legitimate agency or organization going door to door to provide information or testing for COVID-19. We have not received reports of this actually occurring, but want to make community members aware.”

Clark County Prosecutor Dan Driscoll also posted about the scam on his Facebook page.

“We have seen social media posts about alleged home invasion attempts in both Clark and Greene counties by people pretending to be government agents,” Driscoll’s post said. “Our office has reached out to law enforcement agencies in both counties, and there are no such reports that have been made to law enforcement that we are aware of.”
