Clark County Commission candidate to step down from race

One of the candidates in the upcoming Democratic primary for Clark County Commissioner announced that he will be stepping away from the race this week.

Alex Muller told the Springfield News-Sun on Wednesday that he is putting a hiatus on his bid for public office to instead focus on a newly formed business that aims to tackle workforce transportation needs in the area.

Muller said he plans on notifying the Clark County Board of Elections of his decision to drop out of the race later this week.

“When I got into the race I wanted to address some of the biggest challenges facing employers in our workforce. One of the biggest barriers happens to be access to transportation,” Muller said of his decision to focus on his business Workforce Connect, which was launched earlier this year.

That decision will leave David Hartley, who previously served as both a county commissioner and a state representative, as the only Democrat on the ballot running for Clark County Commissioner.

Hartley will face the winner of the Republican primary for the Clark County Commissioner seat in November.
