Springfield to swear in mayor, commissioner for new terms

A special meeting will be held at the Springfield City Hall Forum tonight in order to swear in officials who were re-elected to their posts during the November election.

Those city officials include Springfield Mayor Warren Copeland and Commissioner Kevin O’Neill. Commissioner Joyce Chilton is also expected to be named assistant mayor and will be sworn in during the same meeting.

A reception will be held at 7:30 p.m. with refreshments and entertainment provided by Kent Brooks of Wittenberg University. The organizational meeting will begin at 8 p.m., with a legislative session following.

The next regular meeting of the Springfield City Commission will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14 at 7 p.m. in the City Hall Forum.
