Catholic Central gets new leader

Job of president, principal will be combined in Springfield.Kettering school official named principal/CEO, effective July 1.

Catholic Central’s president, Dr. Kenith Britt, has accepted a job at Marion University and is to be replaced by Pete Dunlap, who, starting July 1, will be principal/CEO of Catholic Central.

“I am fully confident that Mr. Dunlap will continue the outstanding momentum established under the current administration,” said Jim Rigg, superintendent of Catholic Schools and Archdiocese of Cincinnati in a letter to the Catholic Central community.

According to the school’s website, principal/CEO is a new position that has replaced Britt’s position as president and the high school principal’s position. Patrick Finneran, who had been Catholic Central’s high school principal, also left. He accepted a job in South Carolina.

Britt holds a doctorate from the Catholic University of America, a master’s degree in leadership studies from Marshall University and a bachelor’s degree from West Liberty University.

He worked with Catholic Central for four years.

“The people are amazing,” said Britt. “There’s nothing we can’t accomplish.”

Dunlap is the dean of student life at St. Albert the Great School in Kettering. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Ohio University and a master’s from degree from the University of Dayton in educational leadership. He has taught social studies, science and religion and was the director of camp invention, according to the letter.

He worked with St. Albert for nine years.

He was appointed by Archbishop Dennis M. Schnurr after a national search and “affirmation of the principal’s search committee,” said Rigg.

“Mr. Dunlap is an energetic leader know for his community building skills and strategic planning skills,” said Rigg. “I know that Mr. Dunlap will be a great asset to the Catholic Central family.”
