Pull on your black and white, tuxedo optional, and be at the museum at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 4. Attendees will enjoy tunes by DJ Chill along with dancing, sweet and savory desserts from area restaurants, caterers and home cooks as well as selections of wines from Vanguard Wines and beer from Mother Stewart’s Brewery.
Committee chairwoman Missy Hallmark and museum Executive Director Ann Fortescue anticipate around 200 attendees from the area. It’s also a chance to see the museum’s newest high-profile gallery attraction.
“This year’s Black & White Party is an opportunity to celebrate the exhibition ‘Industrial Nature,’ and there are several black and white themed works in it,” said Fortescue. “This annual event continues to draw new and returning guests who enjoy a casual mid-winter dance party at the museum. The black and white theme provides a context for party-goers to dress in an array of black and white attire from fancy to frumpy, dressy to dowdy, stylish to shabby, or couture to casual.”
Admission will also include access to other current exhibits including “Story Retold: Prints by Annie Lee-Zimerle,” “Dayton-Kyoto Print Exchange” and other permanent collection works.
Organizers have recruited 17 area businesses as event sponsors.
The event is a fundraiser with proceeds going to the Springfield Museum of Art to support future educational programs and exhibits.
