Alaina Reed Hall's remains to be scattered over Pacific; no funeral planned

The ashes of Alaina Reed Hall will be scattered into the Pacific Ocean, her husband, TV director Tamim Amini said Wednesday, Dec. 23.

The Springfield native, who found fame as Olivia on “Sesame Street” throughout the 1970s and ’80s, died on Dec. 17 at age 63 after a long struggle with breast cancer.

There will be no funeral for the 1964 South High grad. Instead, a celebration of her life will be held sometime early next year in Los Angeles, said Amini, her husband since 2008.
