A Springfield man was arrested for allegedly threatening a man with a gun and using an ethnic slur on June 27.

About 7:15 p.m. James Arthur Campbell Jr. was outside of his home "causing a scene" while a man who was visiting relatives at a home nearby parked his car, according to a document filed in the Clark County Municipal Court.

The man told police Campbell routinely causes problems, but this time was different, as Campbell was waving a firearm in the air, the document said. Campbell could be heard threatening to use the weapon, then yelled, “you (expletive) pickaninny, I’ll blow your windows out,” according to the document.

Campbell also threatened to shoot up the man’s car while children were nearby, then ran back inside his home.

Concerned about his family’s safety the man who Campbell allegedly threatened called police.

An ethnic intimidation for aggravated menacing warrant was issued, and Campbell was arrested two days later. He was being held in the Clark County Jail Monday afternoon.
