Cleaning worker caught stealing from Clark County home

A woman working for a cleaning company has been charged with felony theft after she admitted to stealing from a home in the 500 block of Shrine Road in Springfield Twp.

Brittany McLaughlin was scheduled to appear in court this morning after she was arrested Thursday by Clark County deputies.

On Jan. 28, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office took a theft complaint from the residents at the Shrine Road home, according to a release.

It was reported that the homeowners found on several occasions that money had come up missing after their cleaning crew left the residence.

They reported that they hired Busy Bee Cleaning to come in once a week and clean the house, and over the past few visits they noticed things missing. Investigators with the Sheriff’s Office were assigned to look into the case.

On Thursday morning, Clark County Sheriff’s Office investigators placed a controlled amount of marked bills in the residence, knowing that the cleaning crew was going to be there.

Once the cleaning crew left the residence, investigators checked and found that a large amount of the money had been taken.

The cleaning crew was stopped on Upper Valley Pike at Ironwood Drive, and McLaughlin was identified as the responsible party. She admitted to taking the money, removed it from her boot and returned it.

McLaughlin was transported to the Clark County Sheriff’s Office.
