Officers shrouded their badges Friday.
Earlier Friday, a police union official said some officers have been expressing desire to be in two-officer cars for increased safety. Dan Hils, president of the Fraternal Order of Police chapter representing the Cincinnati Police Department, told The Cincinnati Enquirer: “If that makes the officers feel safer, we should go with that.”
Cincinnati police reforms in recent years have been praised as a national model for improving police-community relations. The city made sweeping changes after 2001 riots triggered by a fatal police shooting of an unarmed black man.
