Mass food distribution for Greene County residents this week

The Foodbank is holding another mass food distribution at the Wright State Nutter Center’s parking lot on Thursday this week, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Participants are asked to not start lining up until 9 a.m., and to keep their trunks empty so that food can be placed directly into the vehicle. Each vehicle can pick up food for up to two households.

Many large stores now requiring shoppers wear masks

Since the start of the coronavirus pandemic, many stores have required employees to wear masks while leaving shoppers to make their own decision. However, now many large stores are requiring or will shortly require customers to wear masks, including Aldi, CVS, Kroger, Lowe’s, Macy’s , PetSmart, Target, Walmart and more.

Ohio’s mask orders may expand this week

As the coronavirus continues to spread throughout Ohio, Gov. Mike DeWine said that orders requiring masks be worn in public may include a lot more counties, with an eye on potentially expanding mask requirements statewide. “We’re going the wrong way,” DeWine said. “We’re at a crucial time.”

More than 3K tested at pop-up testing in Montgomery County

A three-day series of free coronavirus testing brought in more than 3,000 people to testing sites in Huber Heights, Trotwood and the Montgomery County Fairgrounds. The final event attracted to most people with 1,478 tested. Each of the other testing events attracted around a thousand people.

The Beavercreek Popcorn Festival is canceled for 2020

The 2020 Beavercreek Popcorn Festival has joined several other popular Miami Valley events to be canceled due to the pandemic. The annual event is held the weekend after Labor Day, and organizers said that it would return next year on Sept. 11-12.
