Phone scam involves request for DP&L payments

Miami County Public Health is warning the public of a scam involving calls about coronavirus vaccine appointments. Scammers are reportedly asking victims for personal information in return for a fake appointment.

Callers reportedly have asked victims for banking information or their Social Security numbers, Miami County Public Health said in a tweet. Miami County Public Health will not ask for someone’s Social Security number or banking information in scheduling a vaccine appointment, the tweet said.

Registration is open for two coronavirus vaccine clinics in Miami County this week.

The clinics are on Tuesday and Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Ginghamsburg Church in Tipp City.

Miami County Public Health will administer the Moderna vaccine during the clinics. The Moderna vaccine is authorized for ages 18 and older.

Registration will close once clinics are full.
