However, for adults, especially those on an already tight budget, buying multiple bags of candy to just give away may seem like an expense you can’t justify.
With these few tips I am going to help you buy the candy you need, enjoy the trick-or-treating season, and not worry about your house getting egged by hoards of angry children on a sugar binge.
Use your coupons
Yep, here I go again. This time of year there are tons of great Halloween candy coupons that you can use at most retail stores. Plus, many stores are having specials on candy now, which means you can get more candy for less.
But don’t wait until the last minute to purchase your candy. Start looking for deals now. You can find coupons in your Sunday newspaper and online at sites such as www.Coupons.com.
Less can be more
Unless you’re hoping to be known as the cool house on the block, there is no reason for you to give out handfuls of treats or full-size candy bars.
Allow each child to pick out one piece of candy and be done with it. Limiting each trick-or-treater to one piece can drastically cut down on the amount of candy you need to buy.
Think off-brand
Yes, kids love getting their favorite candy bar or chewy treat, but these are typically the more expensive candy options for Halloween. Try to go off-brand when purchasing your candy and you can save a few dollars on the same amount of candy.
Let’s face it, candy is candy. Most children are not too picky when it comes to free treats!
Shop around
Grocery stores aren’t the only places that sell Halloween candy. Look at your local drug stores, retail stores and even dollar stores to find some great deals on candy that don’t take a chunk out of your wallet.
Remember, Halloween is a fun time of year that shouldn’t bring unwanted stress into your life. Just have fun with it and be creative with your candy options. Happy savings.
