Dear Steve, I wanted to take a minute and be one voice of America. By virtue of the latest polls, I don’t think I have to tell you that the majority of citizens in this great country are dissatisfied with the performance of our government.
The members of Congress and Senate need to understand that the arguing and finger pointing at each other is not solving any of the issues affecting this country. As a registered voter, it is causing me to question the reasons for who I voted for. The lives of all Americans are at stake here and while these “playground” fights are going on, our lives are becoming worse and worse.
I lost my job 14 months ago and my only income right now is unemployment. Since Feb. 2, there has been a notice on the unemployment website indicating that unless the Senate passes the bill that is currently on the table, we all stand to lose our unemployment compensation. Is who wins or beats who more important than the lives of the people that will be affected by this?
I really don’t mean to sound rude, but, I can’t help but feel that maybe most of you in government don’t know what it’s really like, since you haven’t had any change(s) in your lifestyle.
You haven’t lost your job and your lifestyle hasn’t experienced the changes that most of us have.
Have you had to look a loved one in your family and see the look of disappointment in their eyes when you have to deny just $10 to go to the movies, because you can’t afford it?
Do you have to fear that you may go into a diabetic coma or have a heart attack because you can’t afford insulin to control your blood sugar or Plavix to allow your blood to flow easier?
Do you scramble just to have a pot pie or bologna sandwich for dinner, or do you enjoy a nice steak, baked potato and/or a nice salad?
I beg you to take this message and any other similar message with you to Washington and let everyone know that it’s time to quit fighting one another and get down to business!
Everyone who holds an office was voted in their respective positions to serve the people. It’s time to serve the people and I am ordering a nice healthy plate of getting my life back together.
One more thing. While I am not against helping someone out who needs help. But enough is enough. Let those in government know that it’s time to quit sending money out of this country to help other people and put those resources to use here in our own country.
I hope that you are not offended by anything that I have written, as I am not the best writer in the world. I am just so frustrated and felt compelled to let you know how I am feeling.
Something just has to give in order for this country to once again lead the world. We have to remember that the world is watching. How can we convince the whole world that our way of life is the best way and tell them that they need to change, if we can’t manage it ourselves?
God bless you and the United States of America! “We are all Joe Plummer and not Dumb and Dumber.”
