Freshwater Farms hosts first Halloween Bash

URBANA — Want a Fresh(water) take on a Halloween experience? Head for the Farm.

Freshwater Farms of Ohio is setting sail to a new area of family-friendly fun with its first Halloween Bash from 4 to 10 p.m. Friday, Oct. 19 and Saturday, Oct. 20.

Freshwater Farms president and founder Dr. Dave Smith wanted to build off a successful summer concert series by combining what made it work with a previous Halloween activity for kids, and the Bash was born.

There will be two main areas of activity. First will be a farm tour with a hay wagon from 4 to 7 p.m.

“It’s not your usual farm tour. You’ll see things we’ve never shown,” said Smith.

Attendees can check out the trout spring and other growing projects the farm is taking on. A pirate ship on a trailer will take the kids to a haunted island where kids can find treasure with flashlights, a costume contest and other surprises.

Each child will also receive a free pumpkin.

The stage area will host The Hedgehog String Band on Friday and the Devil Doves on Saturday. Both concerts start at 6 p.m. Hula hoop dancers, a fortune teller and fire artists will also entertain.

From 7 to 10 p.m., there will also be an adult costume contest and the bar will be open and a full menu including seasonal favorite dishes.

A kid-friendly spooky adventure will also be available during this time. A bonfire with s’mores and a storyteller round out the event.

Also look out for a spooky creature called the Nightwalker.

As this will be the farm’s last big activity of the year, Smith wants it to be memorable.

“We like to give our visitors and experience they won’t forget,” he said.
