Wittenberg posts Witt Series schedule

Wittenberg University has released the schedule for its annual Wittenberg Series, and the next slate of speakers, artists and performers includes best-selling novelist Sara Gruen, the Grammy-nominated wind quintet Imani Winds and British pop artist Derek Boshier, who’s designed work for The Clash and David Bowie.

All events are free.

The 2010-11 schedule:

• Sept. 1 — Environmental attorney Linda Stuntz, a 1976 graduate of Witt and deputy secretary of energy under President George H.W. Bush, speaks at 11 a.m. in Weaver Chapel.

• Sept. 23 — Jonathan Safran Foer, author of “Eating Animals,” speaks at 7:30 p.m. in Pam Evans Smith Arena.

• Oct. 12 — The dance ensemble Diavolo performs at Kuss Auditorium at 7:30 p.m.

• Oct. 20 — Theologian David Yeago speaks at 7:30 p.m. in the Barbara Deer Kuss Science Center.

• Oct. 31 — The Rev. Marcus Lohrmann, synod bishop, speaks at the Festival Choral Eucharist for Reformation at 7:30 p.m. in Weaver Chapel.

• Nov. 30 — Historian Claudia Koonz, author of “The Nazi Conscience,” speaks at 7:30 p.m. in the science center.

• Dec. 10 — The annual Lessons and Carols for Advent and Christmas service begins at 7:30 p.m. in Weaver Chapel.

• Jan. 17 — Civil rights activist Cleveland Sellers, author of “The River of No Return,” speaks at 11 a.m. in Weaver Chapel.

• Week of Jan. 17 — Boshier will conduct a residency, with a gallery talk at 7:30 p.m. Jan. 18 in Koch Hall.

• Feb. 10 — Marine scientist Cindy Lee Van Dover speaks at 7:30 p.m. in the science center.

• March 31 — Imani Winds performs at 7:30 p.m. in Weaver Chapel.

• April 7 — Gruen, author of “Water for Elephants,” speaks and signs books at 7:30 p.m. in the science center.
