Voss Chevrolet opens all-new facility

Few auto dealers are making the kind of statement John Voss and the Chevrolet dealership he owns is making in this down economy.

Voss has chosen to invest thousands of dollars in the Centerville facility at 100 Loop Road, at a time when many dealers are closing or downsizing.

Voss is the only dealer in the Dayton market to implement Chevrolet’s new full-image program, he said at a grand opening of the facility on Thursday, Aug. 27.

“We’re not the least bit sorry we did this,” Voss said. “We expanded the showroom to showcase Chevrolet’s great products — they’re nice-looking and highly competitive. We’re happy with the success of our new showroom and that we can serve our customers so well.”

The showroom has roughly doubled in size and now can accommodate 25 vehicles, he said. The facility’s service area has been redesigned and rebuilt, too.

Lou Dellapenta, new vehicle sales manager at Voss Chevrolet, said, “We’re confident the economy is going to rebound, and we’re showing that with Mr. Voss’s investment in the business.”

A covered delivery area also has been added for customers’ convenience, pointed out Dick Lange, general manager of several of the dealerships in the Voss Auto Network, which Voss began with his father in 1972.

For Brad Voss, general sales manager of Voss Village Cadillac, his father’s investment is a vote of confidence in him and his brother, Craig, who operates Voss Village BMW.

“He’s investing in us personally and the community as well, which is really important to us.

“We’re making the statement that we’re in this for the long haul and we’re a family business that’s around to stay, to keep serving the community,” Brad Voss said.

Voss Chevrolet also sells certified used vehicles and preowned vehicles. Last October, Patti Kemper, a financial analyst at the Air Force Research Laboratory, purchased from Voss Chevrolet the 3 millionth vehicle sold through the nation-wide GM Certified Used Vehicles program.

Maurice Williams, regional sales manager for Chevrolet, said Voss is important to GM.

“He’s the No. 1 (Chevrolet) dealer in the state of Ohio. He’s done an outstanding job representing Chevrolet and General Motors. If we could clone Mr. Voss, we would.”

Voss said he expects all of the Camaros at the dealership to be sold by the end of the weekend.
