Here in the Miami Valley that legacy runs deep. Many people may not know some of the rich history that exists between Dayton and Chevrolet. Over these next several pages you will find stories about the many local connections to Chevy’s history and the Miami Valley.
We also asked several car people in the area to share their Chevy memories with us and I hope you will find those stories interesting. I encourage you to also share your memories with me on our Facebook page at
or you can email me your memories and I will post them online.
While doing research for this section, I realized how inspiring the Chevrolet story is and how bright the future looks for the brand. From creating the first station wagon, the first SUV, the first fiberglass body car to the small block V8 engine, Chevy continues a great tradition in their current product line.
The game-changing electric Chevy Volt was last year’s car of the year. The Chevy Silverado is one of the best-selling pickup trucks year after year. And, new for 2012, the Chevy Sonic replaces the Chevy Aveo, showing that fuel economy and compact cars are something Chevy hasn’t forgotten about either. To celebrate their 100 years, watch for the Centennial Edition package available on all 2012 Corvettes, which features an all-black color scheme and special features, and commemorates one of the greatest cars ever engineered by Chevy.
So, from humble beginnings to muscle-car mania, to pickup trucks to the current line and beyond, Chevy could very well have another 100 years under its hood.
