“This is a really exciting opportunity because we’re really breaking new ground,” Al Wofford, CDO founder and president, said in a statement. “We’re taking something very specific we’ve been doing for the Air Force for years and commercializing it.”
Wofford added: “This will be one of the first times we can successfully transfer advanced technology capability from a government client to the commercial space.”
The ARC enables high-fidelity modeling of aircraft sound signatures in an environment where aircraft fly over an array of microphones and other equipment meant to capture aircraft sounds.
The facility has operated since 2009, modeling the audible footprint of more than 50 military aircraft, including fixed-wing, rotary-wing, manned and unmanned vehicles.
CDO will be responsible for managing and maintaining the facility while scheduling and conducting testing on aircraft provided by third parties, according to the release.
