The Richmond, Va.-based company has terminals in Cleveland, Columbus, Butler County’s West Chester Twp. and more than 200 other locations. The company says it offers shipping from Northern Canada to Southern Mexico.
The new Dayton-area terminal is being opened to “support a consistent upward trend in business levels in the region,” the company said in an announcement.
“It is definitely a pleasure to be making such a positive announcement about the opening of a new terminal and the creation of new jobs,” Ron Giordan, Estes regional vice president, said in the company’s statement. “The addition of the Dayton-area terminal signals a positive growth trend in the transportation freight industry as our economy begins to rebound.”
Estes has about 13,600 employees and 6,500 drivers serving more than 94,000 destinations.
Tom Lamb, Estes district operations manager for a region that includes Ohio, said a new terminal was opened because other terminals are at capacity.
Whether there will be more jobs created at the Huber Heights terminal depends on the overall economy, Lamb said.
