Local HVAC company files for bankruptcy

DAYTON — Residential Heating & Air Conditioning Inc., which does business under names such as A-1 Residential Heating & Cooling Inc., filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy on Friday, April 16, in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

The HVAC and home improvement company, which has a New Carlisle address of 8011 Ohio 235 but is located in Montgomery County, listed assets of $3,390 and liabilities of $633,743 in its bankruptcy filing. The company also reported gross income of $58,342 in 2007, $56,406 in 2008, but a loss of $21,225 for 2009 through Sept. 30.

The company’s owner, Mary Lou Walters, declined comment when reached at home on Monday, April 19. Her attorney, Patricia J. Friesinger, could not immediately be reached for comment on Monday.

Chapter 7 bankruptcy filings usually lead to the liquidation of a company.

According to the bankruptcy filing, the company is facing numerous civil and small claims cases in Montgomery and Clark common pleas courts and in Dayton Municipal Court.

The company began in 1968 and ended on Feb. 5, according to the filing.
