Wittenberg’s Miles Laboy laid to rest in Maryland

Wittenberg Tigers football player Miles Laboy was laid to rest Friday in his hometown, Gaithersburg, Md. The funeral was held at Pathways Baptist Church.

Laboy died June 28 at Miami Valley Hospital, a day after a car accident on Interstate 75 near Anna, Ohio. Three other Wittenberg football players in the car — Dorian Hunter, Aikili Moseley and Rashon Edwards — were released from the hospital last week.

Laboy's obituary describes him as "an amazing young man and a true gentleman whose joy and love for life and for others was evident."

According to the obituary, Laboy is survived by his parents, Michael Antoni Laboy, Sue Ann Anastasia Applewhite; a sister, Danielle Kristian Hines; brother and best friend, Nicholas Alexander Laboy; grandmother, Carol Earline Gittens; uncles, Orlando Laboy and Cassius Gittens and aunts Kerra Hayes, Lynette Gittens-Maccow and Lucretia Cole. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Marga Anne Laboy.
